Questions About Allegiant Air

Leeann inquires about last week's posting about Allegiant and the airline's purchase of more jets:

"I know we're not supposed to assume, but I am excited to assume that they are not going anywhere like Skybus, and the other defunct airlines. With the new terminal could you ever forsee us being a focus city for Allegiant with people wanting to come to the lakes, Branson, and other sites in the area?"

I, too, think it's good news that Allegiant is buying more planes. I have to assume that it wouldn't be doing so if management didn't feel confident about the airline's future and its financial condition. As for your thought about Springfield becoming a focus city for Allegiant... Frankly, it seems far-fetched.

Allegiant Air Adds Jets to Fleet

allegiant.jpgFinally! Some good airline news to pass on...

Allegiant Air is purchasing six more jets, bringing its total fleet up to 36.  Maurice Gallagher,  Allegiant CEO and Chair, says “Our strong balance sheet and industry-leading profit margins enable us to grow and pursue many opportunities which we believe can enhance the overall profitability of our business. Our strong financial condition permits us to purchase aircraft for cash.”

And just to head some of you off at the pass, let me say right now that I don't know if this means more Allegiant service for Springfield-Branson. : )

More Allegiant Service???

Greg inquires, "Still no shot at Allegiant considering adding service for us to Phoenix or Ft. Lauderdale? I know Phoenix people would love and Ft. Lauderdale would be great for cruise passengers. If you can't comment on it I of course understand, but I was hoping since no other airlines look to be adding flights maybe Allegiant would consider additional service. Thanks so much. And always I love that you have this available to the community. I told my brother who lives in the NC community that got Skybus and he says he wishes this is something his airport would have. I think this is a fantastic thing that opens lines of communication between the airport and public."

Thank you for the nice compliments and you're right—I can't say anything about the possibility of new Allegiant service. Sorry.
